Windows 7 Ad Campaign Kicks Off, Focuses on Features
By Thom Holwerda on 2009-10-22 21:53:46
I never thought it was possible, but as it turns out, Microsoft has managed to produce some pretty good commercials for its brand new operating system, Windows 7. They are quite product-oriented, and carry the slogan "I'm a PC and Windows 7 was my idea".

Microsoft is clearly trying to let the world know that it listened to customer feedback when making Windows 7. With Vista being almost universally disliked, this is actually a pretty clever approach to marketing the new Windows release. The ads also clearly show off Windows 7's new features, so viewers get a good idea of what it's all about.

I really like the way these ads focus on the features in Windows 7 - there's no silly name-calling, no derogatory comments towards competitors - just the product they're trying to sell. There are also a number of "7 second demo" ads which show a new feature in just 7 seconds.

This is a lot better than some of the other stuff we've seen coming out of Redmond. What do you think?
